Treatment of Eczema
There are two effective anti-inflammatory treatments:
Cortisone Treatment:
This is usually applied to the skin in the form of lotions, creams or ointments. Cortisone in the form of a compound called prednisone can also be taken orally. Cortisone treatments have numerous associated side effects from both short term and prolonged usage.Ultraviolet Treatment:
(Conventionally in the form of PUVA)Ultraviolet B light has also been used in the treatment of eczema but in the past has been less effective than PUVA therapy. Narrow-band UVB phototherapy, utilised in the BClear® laser PhotoClearing treatment for eczema is more effective and may clear many patients with eczema.
